A few requests for Fort Frances town council to consider during their budget discussions.
The Fun in the Sun Committee was among local groups putting forward requests at Monday’s night’s meeting.
Chair Cynthia Donald says they’re looking for funding between $2 and $5 thousand for next year’s Canada Day celebrations.
Donald says they are looking at making the event a two day affair with July 1st falling on a Sunday.
The town also received a separate request for $7,500 for the Canada Day fireworks display.
Requets were also received from the Fort Frances Museum Advisory Committee for the hiring of a full time museum assistant.
Residents on Elizabeth St. are hoping council will consider an upgrade to their street in next year’s budget.
Organizers with with all-Ontario high school curling championships are also looking for town council’s support.
Discussion on the budget will now be done at the administration and council committeee levels before a draft package is presented to council early in the new year.
