Residents in Fort Frances and International Falls will soon seen images of fish painted near some storm drains.
46 drains along the Fort Frances waterfront will have the stencils next week with the words “No Dumping, Drains To River.”
It’s part of an awareness campaign informing people of the environmental impacts and health dangers of dropping thinkgs like soaps, oils or other toxins into the drains as they lead to the Rainy River.
Fort Frances High School students will be involved in the project and be painted the stencils next wee.
A similar project is taking place in International Falls today.
The Lake of the Woods Water Sustainability Foundation, Koochiching Soil and Water Conservation District and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency are also involved.
