A program that’s helping area students gain easier access to local libraries and materials on-line has been recognized.
The Rainy River District Library Cooperative has won the Minister’s Award for Innovation, an Ontario Public Library Service Award.
Fort Frances Library’s Chief Executive Officer Caroline Goulding joined with reps from libraries in Emo and Atikokan last week in Toronto to accept the award.
The Cooperative also involves area school boards and was launched three years ago.
Goulding says it has since resulted in a 472 per cent increase in student membership to the area’s libraries since.
