The Ontario government plans to implement a new medical dispatch system to help prioritize 911 calls for ambulance services.
It would re-direct low-priority calls to other facilities other than a hospital emergency room.
The province also plans to update the Ambulance Act to expand the scope of what paramedics can provided at an accident scene.
It will also provide funding for two test projects where municipal firefighters would be certified as paramedics.
