Living near such a large bodies of water, it's important to be vigilant.
This week is National Drowning Prevention Week.
OPP Constable Laurie Harkof says you have to pay attention when you are out on the lake.
She says conditions can change very quickly, so it's important to wear a life jacket at all times.
Harkof adds drowning doesn't only happen on the lake.
She says it's also important to watch your children at the beach, the pool and even in a bath tub.
