Snowfall warnings are now in place for the entire Rainy River district while a winter storm watch has been issued for Koochiching County.
It’s all over an Alberta Clipper that is forecast to track into northern Minnesota and northwestern Ontario later today.
It’s starting out as rain, but will change to snow this afternoon with the heaviest accumulations happening tonight.
Some areas could see as much as 15 cm by the time the system moves away tomorrow morning.
If you have plans to travel westward today, there are also weather warnings in place for much of southern Manitoba, including the areas of Sprague, Piney, Falcon Lake and West Hawk Lake.
Environment Canada says those areas should see snow later this morning, persisting throughout the day.
Travel could be made difficulty by the snow and strong winds reducing visibility.
