A drop in the number of deaths from fires in Minnesota

The State's Fire Marshall's Division indicates 36 people died last year, a 47 per cent drop from 2017 when 68 people perished in fires.

Careless smoking is blamed as the leading cause of most fatal fires.

Fires caused by cooking and portable heaters also contributing factors.
