The provincial Liberals are denying the budget for the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines has been reduced.
As CFOB-News reported last week, budget figures show a $70-million dollars reduction to the Ministry’s expenditure over last year.
Acting Minister Bill Mauro says the funding related to one-time funding provided toward mine clean-up and was no longer required this year, so the budget is actually the same as last year.
Mauro adds funding for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is also still at $100-million available annually and there’s a $100-million dollar increase to the northern Ontario highways budget.
