A Kenora lawyer has filed a seven million dollars lawsuit against the Law Society Of Upper Canada.
Doug Keshen launched the lawsuit for malicious prosecution.
It stems from the Law Society’s investigation into the way Keshen handled Residential School Survivor claims after receiving a number of complaints.
Earlier this year, the Society ruled the allegations to be unfounded, and instead, acknowleged there were problems with it’s hearing process.
Keshen claims the Law Society’s actions were malicious, egregious and high handed and caused irreparable damage to his reputation.
He is seeking 5 million dollars in special damages, one million in general damages, 500 thousand dollars for psychological damages and 500 thousand for punitive damages.
Keshen says he’s not commenting on the suit just yet, but will do so once it is formally served.
