Fire prevention is being promoted across the Rainy River district this week.
This is Fire Prevention Week.
Chief of the Chapple, Emo, LaVallee and Alberton Fire and Emergency Service Joshua Collins says their members are going door-to-door in their area promoting the importance of having an escape plan.
Smoke detectors are also being given out at cost to homeowners they meet thanks to a partnership with Tompkins Hardware in Emo.
Collins says it’s important to have two ways out, if possible from every room, in case of fire.
