Backus Community Center in International Falls has some extra cash to work with.
Citzens for Backus/AB has received a $130-thousand dollar grant from the Otto Bremer Trust.
The Center’s Ward Merrill says most of the money will go towards keeping the Centre going.
“They are now general operating support grants. So we have a little more leeway on how we can use the money,” says Merrill. “It can be used for maintenance, utilities, salaries, programming, just a variety of things.”
One third of the money will be used to support the Koochiching County 4-H Program, which operates out of Backus, and provides programs for youth across the county.
