Northern Ontario's municipal groups are supporting the province's plans to increase the number of long-term care beds in the region.
The province will soon announce calls for proposals for those developments.
Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association president Wendy Landry says the issue is critical since we have an aging population.
Both NOMA and the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities are now encouraging their community members to submit proposals for those beds.
The province has said it will create 5,000 new long-term care beds by 2022 and over 30-thousand over the next decade.
