A suicide crisis line in Minnesota has been thrown a lifeline of its own.
The state’s Health Department is providing $139-thousand in temporary funding to maintain a site for the National Suicide Prevention Line at least until the end of September.
Canvas Health, which mans the call centre, was prepared to stop answering calls today, citing ongoing operating losses.
The State’s Health Commissioner Ed Ehlinger says the funding provides some time to find a more long-term solution to the financial issue.
