The federal government is setting aside $5.5 million dollars for a research network that will look at ways to modernize the stewardship of Canada’s fresh water lakes.
Four networks in total are being established that will bring scientists and business leaders together to tackle issues like pollution, minimizing the impact of mining operations.
As a first step, the network is collecting samples from hundreds of lakes across the country to start compiling useful information that will guide its work.
