There are a few more elk roaming northwestern Minnesota.
The state’s Natural Resources department estimates 97 in its annual survey.
That’s up from 79 determined last year and the 83 in 2016.
Another survey, involving the DNR and Manitoba Conservation, identified a total of 133 elk along the Manitoba-Minnesota border, though most were spotted on the Canadian side.
