Postal services could be interrupted across Canada starting next week.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has issued a 72-hour strike notice to Canada Post and says rotating strikes will begin on Monday if no settlements are reached before then.
The two sides have been negotiating for the last 10 months without any success.
In a statement, CUP-W national president Mike Palecek says members gave them a clear mandate to take job action if Canada Post refused to address their major issues.
The union’s key demands include job security, an end to forced overtime and overburdening, better health and safety measures, service expansion and equality for rural and suburban mail carriers.
