The province has passed new legislation governing police.
The Comprehensive Ontario Police Services Act intends to streamline how the Special Investigations Unit does its job, as well as enhancing police oversight by reducing delays in the investigation process.
The new law repeals and replaces the Police Services Acts from 1990 and 2018, as well as a number of other policing related legislation.
