Over $6-million is being shared by communities across the Kenora-Rainy River district.
It’s part of funding announced earlier in March to help municipalities find efficiencies and improve service delivery.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford says it helps those who often don’t have the resources to find savings.
“We believe that by investing in municipal modernization and service delivery today, we’ll make sure that the municipalities have the ability to better plan for tomorrow,” says Rickford.
Alberton township is receiving $224-thousand.
Reeve Mike Ford says likes the flexibility allowed.
“Others streams of funding have always been very specific on where they’re going, whereas this one just gives us a little bit of flexibility and that’s always appreciative in a small municipality,” says Ford.
Fort Frances is getting $689-thousand.
Mayor June Caul says it’s welcomed.
“We face unique barriers to service delivery up in the north, and I believe this investment will give our communities boost as we plan for the future and improve municipal services,” says Rickford.
