Joelle Bruyere and Cassandra Armstrong highlighted the opening of the vocal competitions at the Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts by taking first in five categories.
Bruyere won four individual classes and one in a duet with Katelyn Bruyere.
Armstong was a winner in five individual categories, including First Class Honours in the original composition class.
Piper Likdea, who won three classes, also scored First Class Honours in the same categoriy to tie Armstrong.
The festival resumes this morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michaels School before shifting to Knox United Church for performances at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
