A Fort Frances man is proposing council build a bridge for fish at Seven Oaks.
The bridge would like the main part of the parkland with a small nearby island.
Tim Woods sees it providing seniors who don’t have a boat the ability to fish.
“I think that we might qualify for a Trillium fund, partial money, for such a bridge. I don’t think it should cost more than $100-thousand, probably much less. I really haven’t scoped it out,” says Woods.
Woods suggests the bridge be made out of concrete and that it’s railings be designed in a way that would restrict birds from roosting.
He notes structures elsewhere are highly popular.
“Yellowstone Park has a place called fishing bridge. It’s the trailer park. An expense trailer park. They’re willing to go there and do some fishing and I think it would might be a good idea here too,” says Woods.
Mayor June Caul says because the parkland is still in litigation, council is not in a position to make a decision at this time.
