A local video as we celebrate the International Day of Pink.
It was produced by Borderland Pride and the Northwestern Health Unit.
Borderland Pride’s co-chair, Doug Judson says they it as an opportunity to engage the community to show they support for building a more inclusive community.
“Taking a positive stand against oppression and bullying especially that the target LGBTQ2 young people and demonstrating that there are resources available for for people to find themselves in those situations,” says Judson.
The Health Unit’s Shannon Grynol says very pleased with how the video turned out and the response they got from those who took part.
“As a community agency we just wanted to stand up and encourage other service providers to take a stand against bullying, not just on April 10 but every day. So whether it’s at home, at school, on the street or in the workplace, no one deserves to be bullied and no one deserves to be discriminated,” says Grynol.
The video feature a number of local celebrities including 93.1 The Border’s own Caitlin Hartlen.
International Day of Pink encourage people to take a stand against bully, homophibia and transphobia by wearing pink.
It started when high school students at a Nova Scotia school came together and wore pink t-shirts in support of another who was being bullied for wearing the same coloured shirt days before.
