For the first time since 2007, the Ontario government is introducing a new driver’s licence with enhanced security.
Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek notes the card you carry in your wallet is more than just a picture.
Yurek says the design “also needs safeguards to stay ahead of counterfeiters and identity thieves, so that is why the industry standard is to make changes every five to seven years.”
He says, “Ontario’s 10.2 million drivers should have a better looking driver’s licence.”
The transportation minister emphasizes the new look driver’s licence will not cost you extra and will be available this fall.
