New Gold says it’s been forced to temporarily shut down milling operations at its Rainy River mine.
It’s because of a buildup of water in the tailings area caused by this winter’s snowfall and rapid spring melt.
This issue was first identified last Wednesday.
The company is now pumping the nearly 700-thousand cubic metres of excess water to a water management pond.
New Gold is hoping to resume milling operations by next week.
