An important figure in the aviation history of International Falls has died.
Francis Einarson was 91.
He passed away Friday.
Einarson started Einarson Flying Service with his brother Jim in 1948, later taking over the airport’s operations and helping to lobby for improvements.
Local officials recognized his efforts in 2011 by naming the airport’s terminal Francis Einarson Terminal and the field Einarson Field.
He was also inducted into Minnesota’s Aviation Hall of Fame in 1998.
