Minnesota is a step close to establishing a task force to examine the causes behind violence against Indigenous women and girls in the state.
House of representatives gave unanimously approval to a bill last week allowing for its creation.
It now heads to the Senate for discussion.
Upon final approval, the task force will include representatives from the legal community, tribal governments, service agencies and survivors.
Part of its job will be to gather data.
It’s currently unknown how many native American women and girls disappear each year.
