A taste of India is coming to Fort Frances.
Organizers of a highly popular festival in Thunder Bay will be staging a smaller version at the Rainy Lake Square in July.
Dr. Prashant Jani says they’re excited about bringing the event to Fort Frances.
“I’m also very, very happy to have it in other communities as well as through music and dance, it will bring people together from different parts of the world,” says Jani.
The event will feature authentic Indian food prepared by chef coming from Toronto.
The performers putting on the entertainment will also be coming from afar.
“We have about ten dancers flying in from Florida. We have two dancers coming from Toronto, six musicians coming from Toronto,” says Jani.
The festival in Thunder Bay started ten years ago and attracted 150 people at Lakehead University. It eventually outgrew its venue and last year attracted more than 9,000 people to the Thunder Bay waterfront.
The Thunder Bay will take place July 20, two days before it’s staged in Fort Frances.
The festival at the Square will be free to attend. There will be a cost to try the cuisine.
