Fort Frances Muskies boys soccer team dropped both their first two games at the all-Ontario high school AA championship in North Bay.
They lost their opener 4-0 to Mississauga’s Iona Catholic School then fell 3-0 in an afternoon contest with St. Charles College of Sudbury.
They play King’s Christian Collegiate from Oakville this morning and Coburg’s St. Mary Catholic this afternoon.
At the all-Ontario high school track and field championships in North Bay, Alecea Yerxa and Kenna Spuzak failed to qualify to the final of their 1,500 metre events.
Yerxa was running in the senior girls event while Spuzak competed in the junior division.
A walk-off home run from Aaron Caul gave the Sight and Sound Wolves a 2-1 win over the Sabaskong Lakers in the Rainy River District Men’s Fastball League last night.
Nick Wepruk also had a solo homer in the game for the Wolves.
Murray Armstrong earned the win on the mound.
Elsewhere, Manitou edged Dawson 9-8.
Bob Andy was the winning pitcher.
Stratton defeated the Warriors 12-5 with Guy Arpin picking up the win.
Faron Morrisseau and Chris Morrisseau went yard as Couchiching dumped Barwick 18-6.
Sheldon Kelly Jr. earned the win on the mound.
Rainy River doubled up Northwest Bay 20-10.
Tony Armstrong hit a homer in that game.
Myron Armstrong earned the win.
The Sabaskong Goldeneyes couldn’t field enough players so their game with the Fort Frances Braves was cancelled.
At Grand Rapid Speedway last night, Tyler Jonson of International Falls was 11th in the modifed feature.
Joey Krause, also of the Falls, failed the finish the midwest mod feature and placed 15th.
