The Fort Frances Museum is getting some help with an exhibit highlighting the discover of explorer Sir John Franklin’s ship.
The federal government is kicking in almost 15-thousand to bring in ‘Echoes in the Ice: The Franklin Expedition.’
Curator Sherry George says the exhibit is a big deal for the museum.
“Bringing in in this exhibit is very important for our community. Not everyone in the district has the resources to travel to a larger community or a larger museum,” says George.
George says bringing in large exhibits like this has always been considered too difficult for the local museum, but had always kept it in the back of her mind.
She says several factors came into play that made this exhibit possible.
“The exhibit was vailable during the summer, our best chance of bringing in visitors,” says George. Number two, we’ve accumulated some extra money raised through donations and fund raising.
George says they were also confident of securing some government funding.
The exhibit will be made its debut on June 29.
