The rubber ducks are returning to the Rainy River.
As many as 1,500 will float down the river in front of the Fort Frances waterfront this Saturday as part of a fundraiser between the Fun in the Sun Committee and Fort Frances Lions Club.
Spokesperson Cynthia Donald says a $10-dollar cost gets you a ticket to participate.
“They get a number and we are numbering the ducks that will be released into the lake. The first one through the chute will win a thousand dollars,” says Donald.
Donald says the ducks will be guided toward the chute where the winners will be determined, avoiding the potential of some floating farther down the river.
There will be fifteen prizes to be awarded in total. One will give out $25 to the ticket holder of the duck to come last.
You can purchase a ticket at Northwoods Gallery and Gifts, from any Lions Club or Fun in the Sun committee member or by visit their booth at the Rainy Lake Square tomorrow.
It’s been more than ten years since the last rubber duck race on Rainy River.
At that time, the event was run in support of Crimestoppers.
