The deadline to enter an all-women walleye fishing tournament is fast approaching.
Anglers have until Monday at noon to enter the Lake of the Woods Women’s Walleye Tournament.
Co-chair Jen Hansen says it a catch, record and release event.
“Instead of bringing their fish to us at the scale, they will take a picture of it on ruler that we provide. Then we review those pictures to make sure the fish is actually the length people say they are and then we’ll award prizes based on that,” says Hansen.
The event is now into its fifth year. The first attracted seven teams. Last year it grew to 41. Forty teams have entered for this year’s event so far.
“It’s a really fun tournament. We encourage people to dress up in costume. It’s superhero theme this year and we give an award out for that. We have tons of prizes. Prizes for folks under 50 horsepower, youth teams, so 14 and overĀ can finish.”
Registration is made through the tournament Facebook page or its website.
