One year after being elected premier, Doug Ford has pressed the reset button on his cabinet.
His cabinet shuffle is quite significant with a number of ministers changing portfolios including Vic Fedeli who is no longer the finance minister. He’s now the Minister of Economic Eevelopment.
Rod Phillips is the new Finance Minister.
Ford says he still sees Fedeli as being a key member of the cabinet.
“There’s no better salesperson in our team than Fedeli,” says Ford. “He started his own company. He was very successful and he’s the best salesperson we have so he’s going to be bringing more jobs to Ontario.”
Other changes include Caroline Mulroney giving up her Attorney General post to become Transportation Minister while newcomer Doug Downey takes over as AG.
Lisa Thompson moves from education to become consumer minister. Lisa McLeod is now the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation after being shuffled from Children, Community and Social Services.
Northwestern Ontario PC-MPP Greg Rickford is staying put.
He remains the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines and Indigenous Affairs.
