The leader of Ontario’s Green Party says Ontarians are ready to do their party to fight climate change.
Mike Schreiner recently completed a partial tour of Ontario where he says he saw several examples of people and businesses ready to do their part.
“I was blown away by the ingenuity and determination of the people I met on this tour, whether it was a young couple hoping to start a tiny home community or a big company shifting from petroleum-based plastics to plant-based plastics. Ontarians are ready to tackle the challenges we face,” says Schreiner.
Schreiner’s tour did not include any stops in northern Ontario.
He says as he made his way across southern Ontario, he saw several examples of how climate changes are already impacting the province.
“Wherever we went people were experiencing the climate emergency. We saw it with elevated lake levels in eastern Ontario, sandbags in places like Kingston and Belleville.”
“Ontarians are problem solvers, not problem deniers,” adds Schreiner. “People are ready and businesses are ready. Now we just need governments at all levels to have the political will to tackle the climate emergency by embracing the jobs of tomorrow.”
