A special advisor on flooding is being appointed by the Ford government.
Doug McNeil is being asked for advice on how to reduce the impacts of flooding and enable impacted communities to recover quicker.
He’s a former Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation in Manitoba and Chief Administrative Officer with the city of Winnipeg.
The province has also set up an online ‘Surface Water Monitoring Centre‘ to help residents and communities be more prepared for flooding.
Currently, water levels and flows are within the seasonal range for much of northwestern Ontario, even with the rain that fell earlier this week.
