A group of area youth is learning about being in business.
They are taking part in the Head Start in Business Youth Enterprise Day Camp which is underway this week in Fort Frances.
Organizer Cierra Parkhill says part of the camp gets the young people involved starting their own business.
“They have to come up with a business idea and what we do is we sit down with them and we sort of do this brainstorming maps. We find out what their interests are, what their passions are and then we base the business off of that,” says Parkhill.
The youth, aged 9 to 14, will get lessons on business planning and money management and get some advice from local business owners.
“We go over the different entrepreneurs. We also have a loan officer who comes in and sits down with them she gives them a loan based on what they figured out that they needed,” says Parkhill.
At the end of their week, they will sell their products to the public.
A market will take place at the Rainy Lake Square this Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
