Almost everything went ahead without a hitch at the first-ever Festival of India in Fort Frances held Monday night at the Rainy Lake Square.
The event gave local residents a chance to enjoy a bit of Indian culture.
There were entertainers, dancers, and music.
Dr. Prashant Jani, who was helping to organize the event, says the only thing missing was the food.
The chef who was to prepared couldn’t make it and people who attended and purchased tickets for the meal had to be refunded their money.
Jani says they had enough food to feed 200 people.
He says the set back won’t discourage them from coming back again next year.
He was pleasantly surprised to see the number of people who did turn out.
“It was really encouraging. Our artists were very enthusiastic that day. They never expected so many people would come up,” says Jani.
The Fort Frances event followed in the heels of a larger event in Thunder Bay which Jani says broke attendance records.
