The Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League playoffs opened Wednesday night with the Fort Frances Angels dumping Red Gut 7-1.
The Mud Dogs and Dawson also advanced to the winners’ bracket with lopsided wins.
Red Gut, Manitou and Sabaskong fall to the losers’ bracket of the double knock-out format which continues next week.
A couple of make-up games in the men’s fastball involving the Fort Frances Braves played Wednesday night.
The Braves defeated the Sabaskong Goldeneyes 11-4 but lost 2-1 to the Lakers.
Cole Tymkin had with an inside-the-park home run in the win over the Goldeneyes.
Darryl Beacham slugged a grand slam for the Goldeneyes in the same game.
