The federal Liberals in the riding of Thunder Bay-Rainy River have their candidate in place for the October 21 election.
Dr. Marcus Powlowski defeated three other candidates for the position.
Powlowski feels climate change, the environment and Indigenous issues will be important platforms in the election.
He told party members he didn’t expect to win the nomination.
He thanked the other Liberal hopefuls and told them that they are young and will have other opportunities to run for the party again.
A total of 225 votes were cast in ballotting held in Fort Frances, Atikokan and Thunder Bay.
Powlowski has degrees from Harvard and Georgetown and is a doctor.
