The National Weather Service out of Duluth is confirming three tornadoes touched down in or around Koochiching County earlier this month, one landing not far from Fort Frances and International Falls.
They were part a July 17th storm that drew tornado warnings on both sides of the border.
One tornado was identified as a category F-1 with winds reaching 100 miles per hour and struck within Voyageurs National Park at Locator Lake, moving northeast toward Marion Bay in Rainy Lake and likely into northwestern Ontario.
Another was confirmed along the Itasca/Koochiching County line near Wirth and Effie.
A third was witnessed near Orr.
Both of them caused limited damage. No injuries were reported from either tornado.
