Law enforcement in Minnesota is catching a number of motorists failing to comply with new laws regarding cell-phone use while driving.
Minnesota State Patrol says they issued about 500 citations and warnings during the first week of a new hands-free cell phone law.
The law, which went into effect on August 1, prohibits the use of a cell phone for any purpose while driving.
Prior to the law only texting while driving was prohibited.
The State Patrol says most drivers stopped knew about the law but failed to comply for one reason or another.
