One of the biggest fundraisers for the Alzheimer Society of Kenora-Rainy River Districts takes place this weekend.
The 17th annual Ride For Memories will start tomorrow morning from Kenora, Dryden and Fort Frances.
The Society’s Executive Director Rossana Tomashowski says all proceeds will go towards their very popular Music Project.
“(The project) provides music to their ears for people that have dementia or Alzheimer’s,” says Tomashowski. “You can be in a long-term care home or a hospital and still take part.”
She adds some of the riders have involved in the annual ride since its inception.
“I’ve been doing it for nine years, but it’s been going on for 17. The lead riders have been here the whole time, and basically, say ‘this is the route we’ll be doing’ and (they) go for it.”
Riders will end up at Totem Lodge in Sioux Narrows before completing the ride with a steak dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion in Kenora.
