Unifor is adding its voice to the call for provincial action in restarting the idled mill in Fort Frances and protecting the area forestlands.
The union is expressing its disappointment with the conditions attached to the sale of the property to Riversedge Development.
National Rep. Stephen Boon sees it as an attempt by Resolute Forest Products to consolidate control over the Crossroute Forest by diverting trees and wood fibre away from Fort Frances and the Rainy River district.
The union’s also concerned with plans for a proposed marijuana grow-up for the mill property, calling it half-baked.
