Koochiching County is giving conditional approval to a rezoning application for a new cold-weather testing facility.
It’s to be located on what is now farmland not far from the intersection of Highway 11 and County Road 79 near Littlefork.
The County’s Board of Commissioners met yesterday to approve the rezoning of the land after the proposal when through their Planning and Zoning Committee.
The board says once the proponent has finalized a purchase agreement for the land the rezoning will go ahead.
Development of the land is expected to start this fall with testing starting next year.
The facility will look at components like brakes and automatic steering.
