Seven Generations Education Institute starts a new school year in its new campus at Couchiching First Nation
Construction ended earlier this year with the Institute slowly moving in since.
Education Director Brent Tookenay says all of their programs are now under one roof.
“It’s going to have that real campus, school-type of setting where you know they have access to all the latest technology and library and elders. They’re not spread out all over Fort Frances and the surrounding area,” says Tookenay.
Final numbers are still fluid but Tookenay expects to see between 200 and 300 students attending classes both at their campus in Couchiching and in Kenora.
We are full. With the programs were running we’re actually gonna be running outside of business hours meaning nights classes and that because we are full.”
An official opening of the campus at Couchiching is planned for this Thursday.
On Sept. 5, join us in celebrating the official opening of our #FortFrances campus. Everyone is welcome to attend our Open House from 1:00-4:00 pm for activities, appetizers, game prizes and tours. For more info visit https://t.co/QSmKffUJ9F pic.twitter.com/iQMDg4r0v4
