On the federal election front, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau was in campaigned in Markham where he attended a party fundraiser.
He used the opportunity to draw comparisons between Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives and Doug Ford’s PC government.
“You’re seeing first hand how Conservative politicians say they share the values that matter to your families but then cut taxes for the wealthiest and cut services for everybody else,” says Trudeau.
Conservative leader Andrew Scheer is promoting a Universal Tax Cut.
He says it would reduce the rate of the lowest income tax bracket from 15 per cent to 13.75.
“This lower tax rate will cover all income in the first tax bracket which applies to income up to $47,630,” says Scheer.
Scheer says for the average family, it will mean savings of $850 annually.
NDP leader Jagmeet Singh used a stop in Sherbrooke to promote his platform for Quebec.
It would include expanded powers for the province over language and immigration.
