Koochiching County is in line for $2.8 million in payment-in-lieu-of-taxes from the state.
The money offsets tax revenue that’s not collected on public lands.
The funding is based on over 17-thousand acres within the county.
Payment rates vary according to land type and range from $2 per acre, to 3/4 to 1 1 per cent of appraised value.
