Fort Frances Lakers are back in the rankings of the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
They’re ranked 12th after the first week of play.
The defending SIJHL champions Thunder Bay North Stars are in 18th.
The Penticton Vees of the B.C. league are ranked first in the country.
Fort Frances Lakers netminder Alex Bugeja has been named player of the week in the SIJHL.
The 18-year-old from West Vancouver backstopped the Lakers to two wins over the weekend, facing 73 shots while giving up just four goals.
Fort Frances Muskies court teams have their home openers this afternoon.
They are taking on the Sioux North Warriors in girls basketball and boys volleyball.
Sioux North made the move from the NorWOSSA A division to AA this year.
A busy day of high sports at Falls High School
The Broncos girls volleyball team hosts Hibbing, 7 pm at the school.
Their junior teams also in action against Hibbing with those games being played this afternoon.
The cross country run teams are at Deer River for a meet.
The Broncos junior football team has a home game against Greenway-Nashwauk-Keewatin.
