Conservative leader Andrew Scheer is putting forward a plan to help small business owners.
Speaking in Thorold, Ontario, Scheer pledges a review of the tax system to ease burdens for small businesses and cut red tape.
“We’ll tackle the burdensome layers of bureaucratic red tape it’s the biggest complaint I hear from small business owners we’ll cut red tape by 25 percent over 4 years,” says Scheer.
NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was making climate change promises.
That includes making sure Indigenous people have a voice in the process.
“While Indigenous communities face the hardship of climate change on the ground, their voices are completely ignored. We would ensure that Indigenous communities have a seat at the table as equal partners in the fight against the climate crisis,” says Singh.
Climate change also on the mind of Liberal leader Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau says if re-elected, he pledged to reduced carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050 calling it a challenge for all Canadians.
“It’ll require us to slash our emissions, transform our economy and use the power of nature like planting trees and protecting ecosystems to bring us to net zero,” says Trudeau.
Trudeau visits Thunder Bay as part of his campaign today.
He’ll be speaking at a Liberal rally at Lakehead University tonight with local candidates Patty Hajdu and Marcus Powlowski.
He begins the day with a policy announcement in Delta, British Columbia.
