The city of International Falls has a road map of sorts for future infrastructure projects.
A five-year plan identifies about $5.9 million dollars worth of projects.
Mayor Harley Droba says the priority isn’t the worst roads in the city.
Droba says those will get attention at a later time.
“What we’re gonna do is fix the roads before they are totally broke down again un serviceable. So if you have unserviceable road we will get to it down the road but we’re trying to get our city to be at a standard that is acceptable,” says Droba.
Some of the money will come from a new city sales tax that went into effect. But Droba says there’s will have to do some local budgeting to help pay for the projects as well.
There is a large amount of money that the city is going to have to come up with. Not so much in 2020 but in 2021, ’22, ’23 and ’24 to make this happen.”
