No plans by the town of Fort Frances at this time to remove a display featuring one of Don Cherry’s suits in light of the former hockey player and coach turned broadcaster’s firing from Rogers/Sportsnet.
A suit worn by Cherry has been on display at Memorial Sports Centre since 2011.
It was donated by the late Sharon Tibbs after the former town councillor won it during a Ducks Unlimited auction she attended during a visit to London, Ontario that same year.
Town officials say they’ve had no complaints from anyone about it since Cherry’s firing yesterday.
Cherry was let go for controversial comments made in Saturday’s broadcast of Coach’s Corner when speaking about immigrants who don’t wear poppies.
