The recent hot weather has pushed up the forest fire hazard both in northwestern Ontario and Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says its hazard for northeastern Minnesota, including much of Koochiching County, is high.
It’s also high for much of northwestern Ontario with it reaching the extreme range around the Quetico Park area.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports a new fire in Quetico that broke out late Thursday.
The fire at Snipe Lake is now being held after scorching almost one hectare of land.
